The Serbian government has officially ended its cooperation with Rio Tinto, but activists and the opposition demand clear assurances that this is not just a pre-election trick of the government.
Members of the electoral coalition are the Don’t Let Belgrade D(r)own movement, the Open Civic Platform ACTION, the Environmental Uprising, as well as a large number of activists and local movements.
On December 4, for the second weekend in a row, citizens gathered to protest against the adoption of the Law on Expropriation and the Law on Referendum, and the implementation of the Rio Tinto Jadar project.
A number of protests have been held across Serbia last weekend.
The Don’t Let Belgrade D(r)own movement (NDMBG) and political platform Solidarity presented an agreement on joint action in promoting the platform “For a Good City”, with the goal of offering citizens policies “that will enable us to live in a green, solidary and a just city.”
